We eventually settled on the Watts Bar Dam section of the Tennessee River. The water is clean and warm and people swim in it. The lake formed by Watts Bar Dam is our huge swimming pool. Boating here is very good with people enjoying both sail and power boating including skiffs, pontoons, houseboats and cabin cruisers. This is a fishing tournament lake with many game fish species being caught. Beautiful camping is here as are unlimited painting and photography opportunities. As part of the Appalachians this is an especially beautiful area.

First we looked up at Lake Cherokee but soon discovered the dockage problems in that and other lakes. The water level fluctuates too drastically.
